Where does the high harvest in El Paraiso Verde come from?

Why is everything growing so well in Paraguay and in El Paraiso Verde?

Compared to Germany, trees in Paraguay have an approx. 5- to 6-fold growth rate due to the excellent climatic and soil properties.
For example, firewood prices are as high as in Germany.
The wage costs are much lower than in Germany, although we pay above the minimum wage.
The material used, such as seedlings, fertilizer, etc., is considerably cheaper than in Germany.
The land costs are much cheaper. Through our purchasing policy, we achieve great purchasing advantages, some of which we pass on to our buyers.

Take care of selling the trees in El Paraiso Verde yourself?

Do I have to take care of selling the trees in El Paraiso Verde myself?

Of course, we will give you the support you need – you decide how the trees will be sold. After all, it is also in our interest that you achieve the highest possible sales price.

Are plantings in El Paraiso Verde monitored or certified?

  • FSC certification for export wood is not required and is not applicable.
  • The basis in Paraguay is the very strict certification by INFONA – Instituto Forestal Nacional and the environmental authority SEAM. Without these certifications and approvals, we would not be able to work.

How can I invest in precious woods at El Paraiso Verde?

  • Our “Natural Forest” project is ideally suited for this. This involves the purchase of a plot of land on which there is residual virgin forest. These are enriched by us with missing types of precious wood and managed sustainably.
  • From the 10th year onwards, a wide variety of trees can be removed from the existing forest and sold every 5 years. The free area is then regularly enriched with new seedlings. As a result, the natural habitat for animals and other plants is largely preserved.

Why growing wood in Paraguay?

Why should one plan and implement wood cultivation in Paraguay?

  • In Paraguay there are few alternatives to the huge demand for wood. Much more wood is still needed today than is reforested – a real supply deficit! Wood does not have to be transported over long distances in Paraguay, the market takes place regionally. Thus, the price is relatively stable and represents a natural form of added value.
  • Paraguay has lost around 85% of its rainforest areas since the 1950s. Paraguay loses over 1,000 hectares of forest area every day, as the land is to be used for soy and pasture areas.
  • Paraguay is as big as Germany, Liechtenstein and Switzerland combined. With only 6.7 million inhabitants, there is a lot of land in relation to the population.
  • The high soil quality in Paraguay is accompanied by constant precipitation and a very balanced climate – an ideal combination.
  • German investors find a friendly, preferred investment climate in Paraguay.
  • The climatic conditions are optimal and the wood growth rates are extremely good.

Why is the eucalyptus forest topic of particular interest to investment-oriented members of the Paraiso Verde?

Why is the eucalyptus forest topic of particular interest to investment-oriented members of El Paraiso Verde?

The third largest raw materials market in the world is not only important for the economy, but above all for people and the environment. Because with the increasing, rampant deforestation, there is a great danger that there will soon be no more forest. The loss of forests in 2015 amounted to around 18 million hectares in the world. This corresponds to an area twice the size of Portugal.
Wood is not interchangeable in most types of use – there is no meaningful substitute.

Therefore, RELJUV S.A. two goals with the forestry projects:

  1. The reforestation of the primeval forest and the nature reserve (currently approx. 7% of the property)
  2. and the planting of eucalyptus as a versatile timber.

I googled that the roots of eucalyptus cannot be brought out of the ground and that the property is ruined after 2 or 3 planting periods at the latest. Is that correct?

In the case of eucalyptus, the roots no longer come out of the ground and that they ruin the property after 2 or 3 planting periods at the latest. Is that correct?
What’s true here is that there are many unprofessional eucalyptus plantings where these problems can show up.

We have the machines and vehicles to pull out all the roots and tree stumps after the eucalyptus forest has been cut down (after 11 years).

Humus in El Paraiso Verde
The humus in Paraiso Verde is many meters deep and is constantly replenished through the ongoing planting with eucalyptus and grass and maintained in its quality through the fertilization.

If you do your business with eucalyptus, you can even leave a small part of the roots in the ground. These drive out again and also supply firewood as ancillary income, which covers the ongoing costs of the care.

We have had our statements confirmed not only by our partner, but also by the forest authorities.

I read on the internet that eucalyptus leaches out the soil. Is that correct?

Does eucalyptus leach out the soil?
No. Or rather, this is only true if you grow eucalyptus INCORRECTLY.

If eucalyptus is grown without natural fertilization or only with artificial fertilizers and with glyphosate (herbicide) or with the help of other chemicals, the soil is depleted by the type of planting and the type of care.

By the way: The soil is really depleted in commercial soya and corn cultivation. This cultivation is even worse than the wrong cultivation of eucalyptus.

If you grow eucalyptus CORRECTLY, the mineral content and the amount of microorganisms in the soil will remain at least the same.

We do not use any artificial fertilizers or weedkillers for eucalyptus.
So that the soil gets its mineral wealth, we fertilize with a special natural fertilizer from press residues from our castor plantations. This contains composted castor husks and a special fertilizer recipe from our eucalyptus specialists.

We plant a special kind of palisade grass (brachiaria brizantha) between the eucalyptus trees, which the cattle particularly like. This grass grows extremely quickly. One more proof that the soil is not depleted by the eucalyptus.

We let cattle graze between the trees from the 4th year of planting. This gives us natural fertilization – exactly what the eucalyptus forest needs.

A leading representative of the German organic farmers traveled to our plantations in Paraguay to have a look at this sensible and nature-compliant planting of eucalyptus and to report on it in Germany.
